Membership

10 questions

Membership is open to all healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, and students with an interest in sexual medicine. This includes physicians, nurses, psychologists, pharmacists, and other allied health professionals working across Africa.

ASSM offers Full Members, Associate (Free) Members, and Honorary Members. Full Members have voting rights; Associate and Honorary Members access the curriculum without voting rights. Free / associate applications are open for 2026 only. Honorary membership can be requested year-round via the honorary request form.

Full membership signup is currently R450 (approx. $25 USD) — a 50% discount (regularly R950 / approx. $50 USD). That promo includes membership for the rest of 2026 and free membership for all of 2027. Associate / free membership in 2026 is free until 31 December 2026. From 1 January 2027, renewals are $50 USD per year (approx. R950). Honorary membership has no fee and no annual renewal. Contact office@assmweb.org for the current fee schedule.

Go to Member Signup (/register), choose Full membership, complete the registration wizard, and pay online with Paystack. Your membership activates immediately after successful payment, and you will receive a welcome email with login instructions. The ASSM office is also notified of new registrations.

In 2026 only, submit a free membership request via the free-member application form. You will receive an email confirming that ASSM received your request. If approved (usually within 5–7 business days), you get a second email with a one-time signup code and step-by-step instructions. Use that code on the payment step of registration to activate free membership until 31 December 2026. From 1 January 2027, renewal is $50 USD per year.

Open the registration link in the approval email (or go to /register). Choose Full membership / continue to signup, complete the form using the same email address you applied with, then on the payment step paste your one-time code into the Coupon code field and click Apply. The fee should show as free. Click Activate membership — you do not need to pay. Then sign in to the member portal. If you need help, email office@assmweb.org and include your code.

Sign in to the member portal and open Renew when your membership is due. Renewal is $50 USD per year (approx. R950) from 1 January 2027. After a successful renewal you will receive a confirmation email with your new expiry date. Honorary members do not renew.

Members enjoy access to all 132 learning units across 24 topic modules, exclusive CPD-accredited content, invitations to scientific meetings, a professional network of Pan-African specialists, and discounted conference fees. Full Members also have voting rights at ASSM business meetings.
